Clay & Cocktails

The Indianapolis Art Center had a little event last evening called "Clay and Cocktails". I, along with my friends Sharla and Kim (plus 20 other people) drank wine and experimented with clay. We built these fun little "animals" at first, then we got to try our hands at the wheel. We ended up a bit messy, but who cares when you're drinking wine! I will post a few more photos as I get them, but here are a few...

Poor Sandie

Thought I'd start sharing some of my sketchbook stuff...
Here is a sketch of our dog Sandie, after she came home from having a couple of teeth pulled last month. She was still woozy from being under general anesthesia. When she got up from this position, there was blood and saliva on the carpet. Poor doggie. All evening, if she was standing, it was a lopsided stance. The next day, however, she was feeling good and back to her old self.

Neighbor Girl

Mydaughter is a wonderful babysitter. I'm so proud of her for that. She really pours attention on the kids she watches, and she knows how to make them behave and how to keep them safe. She is going to be a wonderful mother someday. Here are some pics she took of a cutie little neighbor girl she watches.

My Curtains

A couple years ago, I redecorated my living room. I needed some curtains, but I couldn't find exactly what I wanted, and to have them custom-made wasn't in my budget. So, I started going through some books on the subject. I went to JoAnn's and got my hands on some fabric swatches that I liked. I sketched out a design that was a compilation of features in other designs that appealed to me, and came up with this. It was an added challenge that the plaid design was printed not-squared to the weave, so I did what I could to conceal that fact. I think I did a pretty good job. I think I saved myself a few hundred dollars doing it myself. I was most excited when my aunt, who is a talented seamstress, came to my house last year for my son's graduation party, and she told my mother that she was impressed and even inspired by my curtains. Awe! :)
